Here you will be able to explore the Chaboe National Park and the Chobe River. You will have the option of staying at Chobe Safari Lodge or Chobe Bush Lodge.
Each day enjoy a Chobe Game Drive through the Chobe National Park. The Chobe National Park is home to some of the most diverse species of animals in the world. Although it is only the third largest park in the country, it is Botswana’s first national park and has four distinct ecosystems, making it very unique. The park is especially known for its massive elephant population. It contains an estimated 50,000 elephants. Chobe is also home to over 460 bird species. Making it one of the world’s premier destinations for birdwatchers. Experience one of Africa’s true wildlife gems in this 11 700 square kilometer wildlife reserve.
Celebrate the end of each day as the Sun sinks into the Chobe River on a Chobe River Boat Cruise. Cruise upstream into the Chobe National Park. Share in the end-of-day ritual which sees massive herds of elephant streaming to the river banks for their last drink. This is a special time of day in Africa and there is no better place to spend it than on the Chobe River. Relax as you sip on a Gin and Tonic and reminisce about the days activities.
DAY 3 – 4: Letaba
After a short charter flight from Kasane you will arrive at Kwando Lebala Camp. The camp is situated in the southern region of the Kwando Concession in northern Botswana. Balancing understated elegance and an authentic safari feel, Kwando Lebala is an intimate tented camp offering personalized and friendly service.
Meaning ‘wide-open plains’ in Tswana, the camp is located near vast plains and wooded savannah, and offers regular sightings of predators, elephant, lion, wild dog, leopard and cheetah as well as wildebeest and waterbuck. Explore this wilderness on game drives and seasonal walks with your trained and knowledgeable guide. Other activities include fishing and boating excursions.
DAY 5 – 6: Pom Pom Camp
From Letaba you will be transferred by charter flight to Pom Pom Camp. A safari vehicle will be waiting to take you to the camp. On arrival at the camp you will be checked in and have a little bit of time to relax and enjoy the privacy of the Okavango Delta. Spend 2 nights at Pom Pom Camp in a private concession area, with the camp staff catering to your needs.
Pom Pom is one of the camps in the Okavango Delta that is able to offer game drives within their own private concession. Morning and evening game drives in the company of qualified guides will give you the opportunity to view all the big game and night life of this environment. A Mokoro trip is a fantastic way to experience the wonders of the Okavango Delta. In the company of a professional poler with vast experience of the Delta, you will be able to enjoy the sights and sounds of this unique habitat and learn about the waterways and wildlife. Fishing is also possible at Pom Pom, and the guides will be happy to take you to their secret spots to try for African Pike and a variety of Bream species.
DAY 7 – 8: Moremi Crossing or Gunns Camp
A short charter flight will take you to your choice of Moremi Crossing or Gunns Camp bordering the Moremi Game Reserve. The first protected area in Africa to be established by local people, the Reserve is rated as Africa’s most beautiful wildlife sanctuary. Spend 2 nights here and become part of the bustling river life by easing between the papyrus clad banks on traditional ‘mokoro’ canoes. Explore the wilderness on foot under the guidance and education of your own personal guide. Feel your senses ignite as you become part of life in the bush and encounter game without the parameters of a vehicle. A great way to explore the crystal clear channels of the Boro River. Motor-boat cruises are organised in time to toast the unprecedented African sunsets while drifting on a lagoon in the middle of the Okavango Delta. Watch as the mutating colours are reflected in the smooth waters, disturbed only by dipping swallows or curious hippos. (Gunn’s Main Camp only, unless by prior arrangement and subject to delta water levels)
DAY 9 – 10: Tau Pan
Tau Pan camp is located inside the Central Kalahari Game Reserve and offers truly incredible views from the ridge of an ancient sand dune, an unusual experience in a land as flat as Botswana, and overlooks the famous Tau Pan – recognized for its stark beauty and remoteness.
Activities offered at Tau Pan are game drives, day trips to the well-known Deception Valley, Sunday, Piper and Passarge Pans, star gazing, bush brunches on Tau Pan, and nature walks with Bushman trackers. ‘Tau’ which means lion in Setswana, is so named for the pride of iconic black-maned Kalahari lions who frequent the camp. Species that can be found in the Kalahari include oryx, the desert-adapted springbok, jackals, the rare brown hyena, red-crested Korhaan and herds of wildebeest.
DAY 11 – 12: Nxai Pan
Nxai Pan is located on the western edge of the fossil pan from which the camp takes its name. The camp faces east over the open grasslands of the pans. The biggest draw to Nxai Pan National Park are the zebras that migrate by the thousands to the area – the second largest land animal migration in Southern Africa.
Day trips to Baines’ Baobabs are highly popular, and include a picnic lunch at the site. These age-old trees were immortalized in paintings by the artist and adventurer Thomas Baines in 1862. If you were to compare Baines’ paintings to the scene today, you would find that after 150 years, the trees are nearly identical – testament to the age of these magnificent giants.
Another classic activity at Nxai Pan is a walk with one of the San bushmen trackers, an informative walk that takes place within the camp’s footprint. Learn about how the San used to live nomadically: how they used to hunt, gather food and water sources, and which plants were used for medicinal purposes. Their wealth of true bush knowledge is unparalled, and one of our guests’ favorite experiences at this desert camps.
DAY 13: Departure
After breakfast at the camp you will catch a charter flight to Maun Airport (MUB) in time for your departing flight. This safari package is fully reversible at the same rate. The trip can start at Kasane and end at Maun or vice versa and includes charter flights to/from Kasane to/from Maun.
