Thorntree River Lodge Overview

Thorntree River Lodge is set in Zambia’s Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, just a short distance from the famous Victoria Falls, Thorntree River Lodge is built with an environmentally-conscious design. Drawing inspiration from local customs and culture, it is a modern contemporary design with tented roof structures to maintain the feel of authentic Africa.
 
The lodge boasts 8 twin rooms and 2 family units comprising of 4 beds each. Each unit will have its own indoor and outdoor bathrooms, as well as a luxurious private plunge pool. The main lodge consists of a lounge with an open dining area, where the fine dining experience of African cuisine will come to life. The communal deck is set on the edge of the stunning riverside, and is home to a sunken boma area and an infinity pool. Wooden decking floats on the edge of the river, and moves with the water level to create the illusion of sailing a boat, and help to achieve a seamless feel between river and land.
 
Activities include visits to Victoria Falls UNESCO World Heritage site, rhino trekking on foot & game drives in the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, cultural village visits, sunset river cruises (on our own private boat), fishing, and visits to the Livingstone Museum. Thorntree River Lodge is the perfect linkage for your safari experiences in Zimbabwe, Zambia and Botswana.

Visit The Victoria Falls
Thorntree River Lodge is situated in Zambia’s Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, just a short distance from Livingstone and the famous Victoria Falls. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the falls are also one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World and are a must see whilst in the area. A visit from Thorntree River Lodge will be seen from the Zambian side of the falls.
 
Cultural Village Visit
Livingstone and the Victoria Falls area is a cultural hot spot, a stay at Thorntree River Lodge includes a visit to a nearby local village for those interested in learning about the heritage, customs and day to day life of local communities.
 
Sunset river cruise (our own private boat)
Being located on the mighty Zambezi River, just upstream of Victoria Falls sunset cruises are possible on the quiet and picturesque section of the river. We have our own private boat, for maximum flexibility and freedom to take in the breathtaking sunsets seen from the river.
 
Fishing
For the adventurous yet patient type, who enjoy time by the water. Fishing is an activity on offer at Thorntree River Lodge.
 
Visit to Livingstone Museum
The excellent Livingstone Museum is divided into five sections covering archaeology, history, ethnography, natural history and art, and is highlighted by Tonga ritual artefacts, a life-sized model African village, a collection of David Livingstone memorabilia and historic maps dating back to 1690.
